Fenestella fenestrata is a member of the order
Pleosporales (Dothideomycetes) and was sequenced as part of the 1000
Fungal Genomes Project. The 1000 Fungal Genomes Project aims to
fill in gaps in the Fungal Tree of Life by sequencing at least two
reference genomes from the more than 500 recognized families of
Fungi. This project additionally aims to inform research on
plant-microbe interactions, microbial emission and capture of
greenhouse gasses, and environmental metagenomic sequencing.
Fenestella fenestrata ATCC 66461 was isolated by from
dead branches of Acer sp. in Salk County, Wisconsin. After
7 days on YM Medium at 25°C in the lab, colonies are off-white
to buff, velutinosus; reverse colorless. Hyphae hyaline and
guttulate and swollen with age at ~8 weeks.
